Inspirational Art
Yesterday I was reading Anton Chekhov’s “The Lady with the Pet Dog”. At one point I could quite vividly see “The Lady”. I at once decided that I would paint a huge portrait of her in oil, the only problem being that I’ve never painted with oil and have no idea how to go about such a project.
This afternoon I’m going to head downtown to one of the art stores I love to troll and see if there is someone who can help with the project. It doesn’t matter that I won’t really know what I’m doing or how I’m “supposed” to be doing it. What will matter is that I do do it.
Just as much as January is about letting go and enforcing good habits, it is also about moving forward. Again, I encourage baby steps. It doesn’t have to be my goal this year to becomeĀ a master painter. My goal is simply to step out of my box. Today that means going on an adventure to see if I can figure this painting thing out. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
What’s your new thing? What’s stewing and brewing in your dream catalogue?
Hello! Really like your blog. You had left a comment on one of my blogs, and I was trying to thank you for it, but only ended up leaving the comment on my own blog. Well, computers will never be my “thing”, but as you talked about “baby steps” - thats pretty much me on the blog scene. I will continue to read yours, as I have always been interested in wicca. Painting can be a great thing. I paint in watercolors and I paint for pleasure and not much else. However, it’s nice to have your work admired. Work for that as well.
Being in an art class really helped me along. I found a watercolor class for not much money at the Senior Centers, community centers, and such. What you need is someone to show you how to use the tools. It sounds as if you already have the inspiration.

Hi Summer, I definitely agree! We also blog about similar topics. I think reflection is very important. Nice to see you on here.
